Why is your platform fee so low?
We firmly believe in providing charities with the tools to get the most out of their fundrasing efforts. A large part of that is maximizing the portion of donations that end up with the charity. We accomplish this by keeping our operations as lean as possible while maintaining the strictest development and operational standards.

How does a "per donation" fee work?
It's simple, every donation processed through your campaign is charged a small 2.1% platform fee. This fee is taken by Stripe when the donation is processed, the net amount (donation - platform fee [2.1%] - stripe fee [2.9% + $0.3]) is directly deposited into your bank account. For example if you received a donation for $100.00 you would pay a platform fee of $2.10 and a Stripe fee of $3.20 with $94.70 being deposited into your bank account.

Are there any monthly or hidden fees?
Nope! There are no monthly or hidden fees. Our platform has simple pricing of 2.1% per donation platform fee plus the merchant provider Stripe charges 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. Registered nonprofits can contact Stripe for a reduced merchant fee.

Which currencies can I accept?
Availability of currencies depends on your Stripe registered country. Most countires can accept both $USD and $CAD as well as many others. More information on available currencies can be found here.

Stripe's rate changes depending on your registered country but their credit card processing fee is typically around 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. If your organization is a registered non-profit you can contact Stripe for a reduced rate.

Can I reduce my platform fee?
Yes! Our platform fee of 2.1% can be reduced to as low as 1.0%. Once you register for your Donorhut account you can visit the Addons section of your account where you can purchase a fee reduction for a one-time payment. The fee reduction is applied globally on your account to all campaigns, forever! If you have pre-sales questions we encourage you to contact us.

Why not a monthly fee?
Monthly fee pricing requires charities to pay upfront without knowing the success of their online fundraising efforts. Furthermore, most nonprofit organization's cashflows are inconsistent throughout the year and a monthly fee can put strain on the organization. We feel this unnecessarily punishes smaller and newer organizations who are trying to accomplish the goals of their cause.
On the other hand, a per donation fee allows the organization to match their expenses with their cashflows, moreover a per donation fee results in a much lower online fundraising expense. To get started with the majority of monthly fee platforms your organization will need to pay between $150 and $200 per month. With Donorhut, you can start for free, no monthly fee, no hidden fees and if you are successful with your fundraising you pay a small 2.1% (can be reduced to 1.0%) per donation. Using our lowest platform fee of 1.0%, you would need to process between $15,000 and $20,000 in donations before you pay us $150 - $200 in platform fees.
